2010 : A Good Year

Well, 2010 is almost over. If came and went so fast.

Where I have been:

My theme for 2010 has been rediscovery. Most people go along life as a straight path, weaving in and out of different circumstances, events, and relationships. When it comes to my life, I feel that I have made some wrong turns, not mistakes, but I find myself sometimes in a place I have already been. I have to reevaluate where I am, in order to determine which way I should I have gone.

I started 2010 off in my hometown, living with my Mother. It was nice while it lasted. I enjoyed working from home, and spending time with my Mother and friends. My dear friend Amy and I reconnected, and it was a reconnection that I was in desperate need of. In regards to rediscovery, Amy is perhaps the person that has had the most influence in my life. We became friends and a crucial moment in our lives, and helped each other become young women. Meeting with Amy again has allowed me to reconnect with a younger version of myself, and it was a fun me full of Unity & Spirituality.

2010 was a year full of travel. My husband and I went around this country, not once, but twice with his band. The first tour went extremely well, and it was so nice not being the only girl on the road with the boys… my sister in law was able to join us. Spring is such a beautiful time to travel, I feel like we followed the wildflowers as they sprang up.

Our summer was a little harder than expected, with the tour not going as well as planned, but I enjoyed myself everyday and made so many amazing friends across the country. When I left on the summer tour, I knew that it would be my last long tour. This helped me to live in the moment and appreciate all that I saw. It also made me so ready for what came next.

During this  summer tour, Bryan and I decided to plant our roots again, and this time…in DENVER. Best decision we have made. Why Denver? Well many reasons, the main being, friends. It had been over 3 years since I lived in a place surrounded by friends, and it was time again. My best friends live here. Women who empower me, support me, and truly understand who I am. There are also new friends out here that are so welcoming and warm. Bryan has been thriving with his new hobby, home brewing and has started his own blog all about Home Brewing, Cramped Space Brew.

Denver is a city that loves community, small business, and vegetarians. I feel so at home here, and at the moment, cannot imagine living anywhere different.

Where I am going:

Changes will be welcome in 2011. I feel called to write on here what my goals are, maybe and hopefully I will stick to them a little better than I have done in the past.

I want to be a healthy and happy. Sounds simple… this means establishing a workout routine and cutting back on my sweets.

Get back into career mode. While lots of people want to get out of that mode, I want to be dedicated to learning new skills and advancing my career.

Connect with the Denver Community. This one should be easy, but I want to learn more about this city, and become a supportive resident.

The summary of my life right now is that I am happy. I have a wonderful loving husband who has been by my side for over 9 years, and this year is our 10th. In November of 2011, we will have been together for an entire decade, and a very important one. 16 years old to 26. I live in a city that I love, and I am surrounded by good friends. I have a loving family, who I am very proud of. I have a wonderful little dog, who is a huge part of my life and happiness.

Needless to say, I’m looking forward to the future.

Cheers.

Fall Update : Some Changes

I really have been slacking on writing these personal blog posts. I think it is because I have been setting up other people’s blogs now since I got back from tour. 2 for my work, and 1 for a new project for Bryan and me. More on that later.

I have moved back to Hemet. I guess you could call it semi-permanent because my stuff will be here for at least 2 years, but I will be all over. We got back from tour in early August and then I started a new job almost immediately working for a startup SEO company. Though I was happy to find something so quickly, I had to look for more opportunities that would fit my lifestyle better. I began to really focus on what I wanted. I had been listening to The Secret audio book and began practicing the law of attraction. Everyone should really begin to do this. The world would be a better place.

After about two weeks at my new job, I got a call from a company I had applied for back in July. Turns out they had an overwhelming amount of qualified candidates (around 40) and had narrowed it down to 10. I was one of those 10. I told them “thanks, but I have a job.” After I hung up the phone though, I felt a calling inside, to call them back and tell them I was still interested. This position is more inline with my specialties, but would also teach me some new skills, and  it is for a Christian company. So I called them back, as embarrassing as it was. They had me prepare some ideas on what I would do for them, and then I was told I was int he top 3. Then the job became more perfect. It was a work form home position, saving me gas, and I would be able to keep it while on the road. At this point I wanted the job so badly. I just continued to pray, and what do you know, I got it. I have been working there now for about 3 weeks and although it is challenging, I am enjoying it a ton.

On the side, I also created a new website for Bryan and me. Monstrosity Productions is our freelance company that we started for his audio work, and my online marketing. I launched the site about a month ago and it is going well. We have had a couple of jobs, independent from the site, but I am confident it will take us places eventually.

Well that is all for now. Life is good, and I can’t complain.

Florida Sunshine

Writing this moring in a joyful mood. None of the band have really adjusted to eastern time. We have bee going to bed at 3, and waking up at noon. I forced myself not to do that today, and actually set my alarm to wake me up. I am showered and ready for the day, and it is only 11:44. I know, still sounds weird.

Well, let’s see… what has happened in the last few days. God has continued to show us how deeply he cares for us. I really just see God shining all around the country. You meet him, when you meet someone that makes you smile. We have been staying with some awesome fellows in the Tampa area, St. Pete to be exact. It is very beautiful this time of year down here. Not to humid, 80 degrees, sunshine. We are staying with two awesome and very generous guys who have let us crash here for the last 4 nights. It almost feels like a mini vacation for tour.

The last few shows have been full of new fans and excitement. The boys played at a catholic youth group event and it was pretty awesome. Kids were dancing, and loving everything that ABE played. The next show was in Miami, well close to it. It was at a venue/recording studio. A great place for kids to be, and I hope they know how lucky they are to have a place where they can go and hear some local music. The place is a lot like what Bryan and I would like to one day start. Something that allows musicians, and fans to interact and support each other with music.

Southern Hospitality – My Reality

Greetings from the road to Nashville. Since Texas, traveling has been going to so fast. An average car ride is about 3 hours daily. This however, only seems to last about an hour. Everyone is reading, playing video games, or in my case, blogging. This can sometimes be both a blessing and a curse, considering that every place that we have traveled to so far is completely beautiful. A common thing to hear among the group is “I want to live here.”

Texas was lovely. Again, can’t believe how fast the time flew. We were there for a full week, jumping all around. El Paso, Amarillo, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, & Houston. Texas for the most part are very happy, and are proud to be from Texas. We met some amazing people, and were welcomed with open arms into many homes.

After Texas, we were off to our second home, Louisiana. This may sound weird to many, but we ALL love Louisiana. Not only do some of our best friends live there (PFAL, a band ABE toured with in the past), but the new label is based there as well. Louisiana is so beautiful. green everywhere & old buildings with lots of character. We were able to enjoy some real cajun food, as well as have a taste of strawberry beer. If you can try Amita’s seasonal brew, I highly recommend it. Especially because I don’t even like beer, and I actually enjoyed it. Austin, our friend from Baton Rouge took us around the city. We saw the LSU campus, some old fashion boat casinos on the Mississippi river, and beautiful neighborhoods with trees that shade the entire streets.

New Orleans was home to the label’s huge ska festival. Over 500 kids showed up and were ready to party the whole time. The fans were so enthusiastic and happy to see their favorite bands. It was infectious. Some bands worth checking out are The Zydepunks, Los Skarnales, Stuck Lucky, and Fatter Than Albert.

After Louisiana we hit Mississippi & Alabama. I had no idea that Birmingham was so pretty. Even older buildings, and the downtown is very classic city. But every now and then you catch a cobblestone road. Now we are off to Nashville, and I couldn’t be more excited. I have never been to Tennessee, and neither have any of the other boys.

My mom sent me these affirmations today, and I wanted to share. Enjoy!

Through faith in God, my mind receives Divine ideas and I am wise and
enlightened. I make decisions clearly and surely.

Through faith in God, my body is bathed in Divine light and wholeness. I
am whole and well. My body is kept in perfect working order.

Through faith in God, I place myself in God’s Divine order. I am in
harmony with life, and good things are manifest in all that concerns me.
Through faith in God, I experience ever-expanding prosperity and
abundance. I am prospered and abundance flows to me.

Through faith in God, God reveals the way for me to live in love and peace
with all people in my home, workplace and every place that I dwell.

Blessings From Texas

I am convinced that Texas is one of the best places to be. Texans are genuinely happy people who love to help you out. While I was writing my last blog entry, I was in Amarillo watching ABE play a small coffee house. When we first we arrived at the small, but very cool venue, we weren’t sure how the show was going to turn out. Again, God showed us his amazing grace. While the show was small, the crowd was in love with their music. People began to draw nearer and nearer and started to bob their heads and tap their toes to the beat. After the show, so many people came up and bought a CD, told the band how much their enjoyed their music, and even hung around just to talk. It is really amazing. Everyday we are fed and have a place to sleep. I am convinced that this is what ABE is meant to do.
