People tell me that too much caffeine is not good for you… especially since I live in Utah. But it makes me so happy. I enjoy having my 20 ounces every morning, and if I am feeling special, a extra cup later in the day. Right now I am in my local coffee shop, where I spend my lunch breaks, and I am drinking just a cup of the house blend. The flavor is so delicious. And it isn’t just the coffee that I love, it is the culture around it. Everyone here is by themselves, enjoying whatever it is that they want. One guy reads the local indie paper, smiling every once and a while. One lady is reading a novel. Not sure what it is, but it has flowers on the cover. Another older man is on his laptop, clicking away, and tapping his foot to the tunes in his ear buds. This is why I like coffee, it can be communal, or solitary. And they don’t need to mix. We already have something in common. We like coffee, and like to sit here for a lengthy period of time. Coffee makes me feel like this constantly. I am part of a culture of cool people, as lame as it sounds.
So here I am at home on a Saturday night, alone. It feels good. Lately I have been feeling very lonely, missing my family and friends who have either stayed in California, or gone on to do big things. It’s hard. I have an entirely new life out here in Utah. Maybe it is the snow, but something hit me lately. Sometime that said, this is your life, you live in Utah. Bryan and I now have different drivers licenses, license plates, etc. Nothing says California anymore. I felt like I was just visiting up until last month. But as I said before, tonight, it feels good to have nothing to do and just reflect a little on what I have. It is beautiful here, and my apartment now is quite comfy. My plans for the evening are to workout and read, and I love it. Utah has been good to me after all.
So here are some updates. Not much has changed since my last update. My job is going well. I love it. It’s starting to really pick up. Our company is growing, and we are preparing for the impact that we will be making on the industry. Bryan is enjoying his job, but now is really enjoying his home time. He bought all new recording stuff and now has a buddy to record with. He has started a new band and everything with his friend Kyle, who has also moved here from Hemet.
We are trying a new church tomorrow. I am craving it. It is an Assembly of God, so hopefully we will like it.
Buster is still cute.
